The tour departs from Arusha town with lunch box from your hotel and drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Today you will descend 2000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the crater for a half day crater tour. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkeys and elephant, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food.

Here, an amazing panorama unfolds: a collapsed volcano spanning 102 miles, home to lion, rhino, hippo, hyena and antelope by the thousand.

Best time to visit Serengeti
Serengeti wildlife viewing is overall good throughout the year. Some areas are better at times but the dry season from June to September are regarded as the best months with the wildebeest migration the annual highlight. The large scale migration varies year-on-year in June and July and takes place all along the western corridor of the Serengeti.
Serengeti’s wide open plains offer some of the most spectacular views of the movement of large herds of animals. Along the borders animals are generally better spotted at waterholes and rivers with the vegetation being less lush during winter. Early mornings and nights are cool and warm clothes are recommended especially when driving in open vehicles. With the dry winter weather there are also less mosquitoes lowering the chances for malaria.
The wildebeest calve from January to February and predator action is at its highest. The young calves are normally strong enough to undertake the migration by early June. For most of the year from July to March the Serengeti is crowded around the Seronera region. The presence of migratory birds make this also great birdwatching months. The peak wet season from March and April with regular afternoon storms are the least popular months and are regarded as the low season and visitors can expect lower prices with June to October being high season and the best weather months with little or no rain.

The majority of visitors experience Serengeti’s diverse wildlife - including the world-famous wildebeest migration - from a vehicle. However, there are a small number of companies licensed to operate in specially designated wilderness zones where game-driving is not allowed. Walking is tightly regulated and is always conducted by experienced and knowledgeable armed guides.
Here the emphasis is on quietly exploring the wilder areas of the park on foot, well away from any crowds. Walking safaris in these areas can be anything from a night or two, to longer expeditions over many days, supported by a lightweight mobile camp. Our recommendation would be to consider a minimum of 2 nights on a walk which can easily be combined with a few more nights in camps or lodges in other parts of the park.
Walking in the bush is a slow reveal. In a vehicle it’s possible to drive up to observe a lion from just a few feet away, on foot however the satisfaction comes from the skill required to observe animals without yourself becoming the centre of attention. This means observing wind direction, reading spoor and animal tracks and paying close attention to the behavior of other wildlife. And nothing can match the thrill when you do get close to big game on foot.
Serengeti has a number of different wilderness areas where we can offer walking. During the dry season - between July and October - we are likely to be in the far north of the park. This is the time when the wildebeest migration is crossing the Mara River and there are times when this can be observed on foot as one of the wilderness zones lies along the banks of the Mara River in the far northwest of the park. Seeing a crossing does of course require time, patience and a healthy dose of luck.
Later in the season as the herds move southwards walks are moved to the central area of the Serengeti – a stunning area of gently rolling hills and valleys with scattered woodland and river lines and interspersed with large smooth granite outcrops (known locally as kopjes) which make the perfect platform on which to spend the heat of the day watching the wildlife below.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1:	Lake Manyara National Park (Moshi to Lake Manyara National Park to Mto wa mbu). Our professional tour guides will meet you at the hotel and briefing you about the tour. You will travel up to Lake Manyara where you will be able to see tree climbing lions which are the park’s main attraction. Why these lions habitually climb trees is still up for debate but viewing a pride relaxing in an acacia tree is an incredible site. The park is also famous for its elephant, huge number of baboons and due to its varied landscape has an impressive range of other game including wildebeest, buffalo, hippo, flamingo, zebra, warthog, waterbuck, dik-dik and impala. This small park is also home to over 400 species of birds, including flamingos, pelicans, storks and cormorants. You will be able to view the surroundings as the safari vehicle’s roof can open up to allow you the best angle for photography. After an extensive game drive in the park you will leave the park in the afternoon. Tonight you will spend the night under the stars as you camp at a campsite in the small town of Mto wa Mbu.
Day 2:	Serengeti National Park ( Mto wa mbu to Serengeti National Park). In the morning our after getting a breakfast and relax for a bit, a journey to Serengeti National Park will begin. Serengeti is one of those very rare places that has a huge reputation, yet still somehow manages to surpass expectations and take your breath away. Surrounded by remarkable tribes such as the Masai and Hadzabe, this wider area is also fascinating from a cultural perspective. In a nutshell, the Serengeti is the mother of all safari parks and the most celebrated wildlife reserve in the world.
Day 3:	Serengeti National Park In this day you will explore Serengeti National Park. Our tour guides will take you to see huge herds of wildebeest and zebra move in a clockwise direction around the vast plains, searching for fresh grazing grounds. Witnessing the migration in the Serengeti is really as good as it gets in terms of your Tanzania Safari. The Serengeti is one of the very few places in Africa where the game viewing is outstanding at any time of year. April and May see the heaviest rains but even then, the game viewing remains outstanding while the lodges are ridiculously good value and the park is quiet. We believe the very best times of year to be in the park are from January to March, when the herds of the Great Migration are calving, and from the middle of July all the way to the middle of November, when the herds are crossing the Mara river to or from Kenya.
Day 4:	Ngorongoro crater (Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro crater). In this day you will have an opportunity of witnessing few wonders of Serengeti before heading to Ngorongoro crater. The world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and home to the highest density of big game in Africa, including all the big five and plenty of predators. The Ngorongoro is justifiably one of the continent's most famous safari destinations.
Day 5:	Ngorongoro crater. (Ngorongoro crater to Moshi). Early in the morning you will have an opportunity to view different wild life. Today, the volcano is a Mecca for those looking to witness a whole host of animals and to take in “that” view. The crater floor itself, with its flat expanse and fertile soil, has become the year round home for many of Africa’s largest animals such as the black rhino, black manned lion (the blacker the mane the older and more virile the lion) and the continent’s densest population of spotted hyena….to name but a few. After half a day of extensive game viewing and a lunch at a picnic spot, you will leave the crater and travel back to Moshi.

The essence of a hot air balloon safari

Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Serengeti National Park on a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon flight. At dawn, rise as the sun greets the day and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take you. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. At other times you will probably ascend to 1000′ or more to see the vast magnificence and spectacular panorama of the Serengeti. At intervals the pilot will put more heat into the balloon with the powerful whisper burners. In between these burns, there is a tranquil silence apart from the natural sounds below.
A Serengeti balloon safari is an extraordinary opportunity to relish a bird’s eye-view of the phenomenal sweeping plains below. Tiny little dots rove across the diverse landscape and as you get closer you are spectator to the most magnificent view of dramatically striped black and white zebra, sashaying enormous grey elephants meandering to a waterhole, wiry warthogs foraging in the grassy scrub and subtle swishes of puffed golden tails reveal lions lolling under shady trees.
